What is The Gild?

START YOUR WEEK OFF INSPIRED & READY TO ROLL EVERY WEEK

After many, many, many discussions with our fellow creative and wellness small business owners we discovered that many of you are already working from home, in coffee shops, in your studios or in other office spaces. You were feeling settled into your spaces, especially if you had a area full of all of your painting supplies, or all your reference books. You also loved the energies of coffee shops. So then what was missing? People, Direction and Balance! What was missing was other creative entrepreneurs who are also learning how to do it all on their own: how to sell their paintings, how to edit their photos, how to price and sell their products, how to be more efficient, how to build a retreat, how to juggle your new business with family obligations, how to continue to be inspired, how to achieve work/life balance, etc... People you could talk to, learn from, and collaborate with. Enter, The Gild!

We know you feel lonely working your butt off trying to build your business, and we also know you don't always feel like dressing up to attend Networking events. This is the perfect chance to be part of a community of like-minded entrepreneurs in your own way. And you know what? We won't even judge if you show up in your sweats or mismatched socks. Come as you are. All humans are welcome.

We are passionate about helping our Doing-It-All-Yourself entrepreneurs and small business owners by giving them the skills and support they need to continue doing it all themselves, but with more focus and clarity, while driving more business and maintaining a work/life balance and inspiring creativity.

The Gild - Mental Health/Wellbeing Monday

hutomo-abrianto-576211-unsplash.jpg

Being a small business owner can take a toll not only on your physical health and wellbeing, but also on your mental health and your relationships. This Monday is a no-holds barred day to really dig into how we are feeling and how to find help and support. This isn’t a workshop where we just tell you that you need to exercise more or eat all the right foods and then everything will be fine. We want to talk about ALL the struggles within a supportive community and give you tools to help you through so you can be not only the best small business owner you can be, but the best HUMAN you can be.

We don’t talk about work/life balance, we talk about work/wellbeing balance. We believe the roadmap to mental wellbeing is based on 4 pillars and that’s what this entire GILD and Anahata Academy is build around.

We know being a small business owner can be hard and frustrating. We also know how exhausting it can be putting up that “Everything is perfect’ front all the time. Let’s dig in together and work on our mental wellbeing together.

Workshops are $45 each or FREE for members of The Gild. All workshops are held at Anahata Collaborative unless noted otherwise. Workshops are one hour from noon-1 (feel free to bring your lunch). The venue will be open from 11-3 if you’d like to stay longer and hang out.

GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY

karly-santiago-319853-unsplash.jpg

Details TBA

Creativity is not only fun, but it’s a HUGE part of mental wellbeing. Have you heard of Art Therapy?

Small business owners, even those who are artists as a business, tend to get overwhelmed and dragged down by all the details of running a small business (taxes, accounting, sales, marketing, website, SEO, branding, communications, etc…). They often lose sight of what really brings them joy: Being Creative!

Even if you think you don’t have a creative bone in your body, that doesn’t mean you won’t benefit from doing something with your hands!

You can’t use up creativity. The more more you use, the more you have. - Maya Angelou

These Creative Mondays will be for having fun and playing! No experience needed for any of these workshops. The workshops will be different every month, examples being: mandala making, weaving, photography, hand lettering, painting, hand building clay, and more.

Workshops are $45 for Non-Members, and Free for Members of The Gild.

Anahata is open from one hour before class and two hours after (11-3) for networking or spending more time implementing what you have learned. Class is from noon-1pm (feel free to bring your lunch!).

The Gild - Creative Monday (LAST ONE for 2019!)

Being a small business owner can take a toll not only on your physical health and wellbeing, but also on your mental health and your relationships. This Monday is a no-holds barred day to really dig into how we are feeling and how to find help and support. We want to talk about ALL the struggles within a supportive community and give you tools to help you through so you can be not only the best small business owner you can be, but the best HUMAN you can be.

SLEEP

hutomo-abrianto-576211-unsplash.jpg

The Complex Relationship Between Sleep, Depression & Anxiety

Entrepreneurs are KNOWN for lacking in sleep. We’re not just talking about working into the evening and getting less sleep hours in. We’re talking about all those things that keep us from being able to get a GOOD night sleep like anxiety, panic attacks, worry, stress, etc…

Excessive sleepiness not only affects your physical health, it has a big impact on your mental health as well. When you don't get the 7-9 hours of quality sleep you need, it can heavily influence your outlook on life, energy level, motivation, and emotions. Even small levels of sleep deprivation over time can chip away at your happiness. You might see that you're less enthusiastic, more irritable, or even have some of the symptoms of clinical depression, such as feeling persistently sad or empty. All these alterations to your mood can affect not only your individual mental health, but your relationships, family dynamics, and work as well.

The link between sleep and mood has been seen over and over by researchers and doctors. For example, people with insomnia have greater levels of depression and anxiety than those who sleep normally. They are 10 times as likely to have clinical depression and 17 times as likely to have clinical anxiety. The more a person experiences insomnia and the more frequently they wake at night as a result, the higher the chances of developing depression.

Join the National Sleep Foundation in celebrating its annual Sleep Awareness Week, March 10 to 16, 2019. This year’s theme “Begin with Sleep” highlights the importance of good sleep health for individuals to best achieve their personal, family, and professional goals.

We will spend this Monday discussing the relationship between sleep (or lack there of) and being and entrepreneur and things we can do to get us back on track.

MONDAYS AT ANAHATA COLLABORATIVE:

START YOUR WEEK OFF INSPIRED AND READY TO ROLL EVERY WEEK

We chose Mondays for a reason. This way you can gather motivation, inspiration, actionable goals to carry out through the rest of the week. Then the following Monday, you do it all over again to carry you through the next week. We want these Collaborative Mondays to be an integral part of your week.

After many, many, many discussions with our fellow creative and wellness small business owners, we discovered that many of you are already working from home, in coffee shops, at coworking space, or in your studios. You were feeling settled into your spaces, especially if you had a area full of all of your painting supplies, or all your reference books. You also loved the energies of coffee shops. So then what was missing? People! What was missing was other creative and wellness small biz owners who are also learning how to do it all on their own: how to sell their paintings, how to edit their photos, how to price their products, how to find markets to sell at, how to build a retreat, how to juggle your new business with family obligations, how to continue to be inspired, how to achieve work/life balance, etc...

This is why we came up with the Community Mondays. Just one day a week for you to start each week off on the right foot. Let’s call it our creative office day.

We know you feel lonely working your butt off trying to build your business, and we also know you don't always feel like dressing up to attend Networking events. This is the perfect chance to be part of a community of like-minded small business owners in your own way. And you know what? We won't even judge if you show up in your pjs or mismatched socks. Come as you are. All humans are welcome.

Anahata Collaborative is open on Mondays only from 10am-6pm, open house style for members.
